Global Issue:
Water scarcity is a major concern, with increasing demand
and shrinking supplies due to factors like population growth
and climate change.
Droughts and Climate Change:
Climate change is affecting precipitation patterns, leading
to droughts and water shortages in many areas.
Over-extraction of Groundwater:
Over-extraction of groundwater can lead to depletion and
water quality issues.
Water Logging:
Water logging can cause a wide range of problems, including
damage to infrastructure and agriculture.
Water Quality and Pollution:
Pollution:
Water pollution from industrial, agricultural, and domestic
sources is a significant problem, affecting water quality
and ecosystems.
Water Hardness:
Water hardness, caused by dissolved calcium and magnesium
ions, can affect water quality and require treatment.
Agricultural Runoff:
Agricultural runoff containing fertilizers and pesticides
can contaminate water bodies.
Industrial Waste:
Industrial waste and pollutants can also contaminate water
sources, posing risks to human health and the environment.
Infrastructure and Management:
Aging Infrastructure:
Many water infrastructure systems, including pipelines and
treatment plants, are aging and require upgrades and maintenance.
Inadequate Distribution:
Inadequate water distribution systems can lead to uneven
access to clean water, especially in rural areas.
Water Governance:
Poor water governance and management can exacerbate water-related
problems, such as water conflicts and unsustainable resource
use.
Financial Sustainability:
Ensuring the financial sustainability of water systems is
crucial for long-term water security.
