Date
palm has always been part of daily life in UAE.
But every year, millions of its leaves are trimmed and discarded,
treated as waste rather than value.
For Palmade’s founders,
that disconnect sparked a question: what if this waste could
be part of the solution to one of today’s biggest environmental
problems — single-use plastic?
A lot of research was done with discarded palm. The result was
a new material made from palm biomass and plant-based polymers
— designed to perform like plastic, but return safely to nature.
Palmade is not just
about replacing a fork or a spoon. It’s about honoring a tree
deeply rooted in our culture, building local manufacturing capability,
and proving that sustainability doesn’t have to be imported
— it can be made here, responsibly, and at scale.
UAE Plastic Ban
The UAE has implemented a phased ban on single-use plastic items
to reduce environmental impact and promote sustainable alternatives.
The ban was introduced in stages, with significant enforcement
milestones in 2024 and 2026. Palmade offers solution to global
challenge of plastic.
