1993 β Dissolution of Czechoslovakia: Czechoslovakia

1995 β The World Trade Organization goes into
effect.
1995 β Sweden, Austria, and Finland are admitted
into the European Union.
1996 β CuraΓ§ao gains limited self-government,
though it remains within free association with

1997 β Zaire officially joins the World Trade
Organization.
1999 β The Euro currency is introduced in 11
