Each
corporate has unique identity.
Corporate identity is an integration of
several things.
Right from the security person at the entry
point, receptionist, liftman, every person
in the office or factory including the office
peon, clerk, manager, president, CEO to
the company, board members, chairperson
..
everyone's behaviour is responsible in creating
or damaging or developing the identity of
the company.
We
have learnt that because founder was part
of a team led by Wally Olins and Bobby Sista,
which helped Tata Group in India in Identity.
Wherever
it is available in public zone, we share
following for all UN member and non UN member
countries, isalands and SARs
A company which makes not good products
but has skills or strategies to ensure good
sales thus creating profits and then spending
good amount of money on CSR, can mathematically
be seen as a company which spends lot of
money on CSR. Company says that the company
is a money maker and not a money earner.
But people know that it is not caring company.
And the sustainability is always in doubt.
The company's identity may be good temporarily
(repeat temporarily) but this identity is
not sustainable.
It takes effect on the company's reputation.
On
the other hand, if every person in the company
behaves responsibly (by nature not by compulsion),
the business processes are good,
there is no damage done by the company to
the environment & climate,
then even if the company spends less money
on CSR but takes effective measures for
sustainability, cares ESG,
then it may take time to earn reputation
and create good identity of the company
but it is permanent, of course till the
company acts responsibly.
And its not temporary.
It is not
just products or services of the company
but how the corporate treats its employees,
supply chain, how it cares for its business
processes, does it value team work or is
one man or one woman show (agreed their
is just 1 CEO or 2 CEOs or 1 Chairperson,
but each person in the company is a leader
of her or his work e.g. a person working
on packaging can do far better packaging
than the CEO because that person's job all
the time is packaging whereas the CEO has
to look at policies, strategies which manages
all, so packaging leader can do good packaging
but she or he may not be a good CEO or board
member (please understand the word "may
noy be" because packaging manager may
become chairperson of the company if she
or he has necessary skills, experience,
expertise and behavious)
More importantly today, we are seeing climate
is changing faster than in 1921 or 1922
because humans are doing drop by drop damages
to climate and we all know an ocean is drops
of billions of water drops.
So billions of people damaging just a drop
of negative change for climate for last
million years is a result of climate change.
CSR
in CSR identity is not Corporate Social
Responsibility but Conscience, Sustainability
& Reputation.
Identity word is taken from the Guru of
Corporate Identity with whose India partner,
the founder worked.
For people to understand Identity in simple
words, Identity means Who you are.
There are many things before one can say
who you are.
Please understand that what you are can
be developed by image building excercists
like advertising, PR, word of mouth, media
visibility or people within saying good
about you even if they know that you are
not as good as they say.
Let
us be clear that we are thinking of Identity
of corporate sector and not individual corporate.
So identity of some can be extremely good
or some can be just money making machine
or some can be careless attitude of founder
or some can be a caring company.
Companies should constantly take actions
to improve its image.
We
are talking about Brand of corporate sector
and
not Brand of a particular or product or
service
Because each corporate, product, service
is different
Yes though many are from same category like
soaps or mobiles, there is a difference
in each
It can be price, availability, quality and
more importantly Mind Share of that corporate,
product, service in its consumer, client.
We
share corporates countrywise because each country
has different rules, regulations, ministries &
stock exchange for corporates. And consumer culture
is also different .
And
countrywise corporates countrywise also includes
links to CSR Brands and from September 2025, we
will start sharing links to social issues they
are helping because then you know which social
issues they are helping.
This
is what NGOs, Media, Funding Agencies, Philanthropists
and Celebrities want to know because they know
caring corporates which think beyond themself
and fund social issues and not just think of themself
or not yet ready to fund social sector.
Of
course, we do not say believe them without doing
any credibility check because some corporates
may give money in CSR (not as social investment
but as donation) to NGOs because of local or national
pressure from other entities which may be individuals
or organisations.
CSR
NGOs, Governments, Funding agencies, UN and even
competing corporates want to know the CSR Budget.
People
across the world want to know CSR Budget.
Every
one looks at a corporate differently.
Some look at whether the company follows all the
rules by the government,
some look at how the company takes care of climate
issues in all their business processes,
some look at their CSR issues & CSR Budget,
some look at which product the company donates
or approach product which the community needs
like soaps or medicines or now even mobile phones
some look at how the product is marketed and who
heads marketing or marketing strategies
so same company is looked different from the perspective
of who looks at it and what is the purpose
We
plan to share the company's CSR or Sustainability
page links of about 10000 corporates by 31.3.2026.
But commit only 50000 companies.
Also
if we comment on any company, we can do that separately
as consultants. But anything in public zone should
be shared carefully.
Commenting on 50000 companies from different countries
is not possible because we dont share just 50000
companies but over 250000 NGOs, 1000 Media, funding
agencies, corporate foundations, philanthropists,
celebrities ... and we are not machine oriented
because we use machines to share info not come
at conclusions.
Many
NGOs want to know which company in their country
supports say water or cancer or youth and what
is the CSR budget.
You can go to corporates countrywise and see links
to their CSR and see which issue they support,
can go to their annual report (we dont provide
links to Annual report but from company index
page which we provide, you can go to annual report)
and see CSR Budget.
We
plan to provide Annual Report related links to5000
companies separately in a new way of 5000 large
companies where we share their index, link to
sustainability, governance, annual report and
maybe HR or more coverage
We had initially planned categorising corporates
social issuewise but know that corporates always
think of competition and if their competitor sponsors
a particular issue, then they wone like their
name in that area. So we stopped it and from September
2025, start sharing related social issus corporatewise
in countrywise corporates.
We
know some links may not work because social issues
funded by corporates fund may change and they
stop working on any issue and therefore the link
stops working. That is why we give links because
it gives you upto date information as well as
gives you clarity of which location they support
for particular issues.
But as consultancy we can do this excercise for
limited number of NGOs for a fee. In India, we
can do it but may be 2 to 3 requests per month.
And we do not give the names of persons in CSR,
their contact details.
We work on all days, so no holiday on sunday or
any national independence day or any day.
Note
It
is possible that a corporate is helping communities
and we have not shared them in CSR Brands. In
such cases, share us links and within a week we
can share them as CSR Brands in related country.
We say a week because we have to open that link
and give links only to corporates
and not agencies outside corporates even
if the agencies are credible like Consultants,
UN, Good funding agencies or agencies which help
NGOs get donations.
We always say CSR or Sustainability because ideally
we are giving link to Sustainability but in companies
where we dont get that link we share CSR link.
In India, we share CSR link because the government
of India has a 2% CSR law.
