17000 ft Foundation started working in Ladakh and subsequently in the Indian Himalayan Region.
During the course, 17000ft has crossed the highest passes, the narrowest bridges and has been to the remotest of villages of Ladakh and now in Sikkim. All this for the children of IHR and their love for learning!

There is an urgent need for overhaul of teacher education — it is same whether a teacher teaches to slum children or children of prostitutes or slum children or children of middle class or rich people. B.Ed (Bachelor of Education) and D.Ed (Diploma in Education) course curriculum is same. Like in doctors, there is specialisation, same with lawyers or engineers, teachers must have additional training in field they will make their as well as future of children. These can be classified as : institutional, curricular and regulatory. And it is not fault of teachers. Like there are seminars, conferences or people from corporates go to big brands like IIM or Harward or Cambridge for say 3 days ot 7 days or 3 months or a year's capacity building programmes, it is time, that teachers take capacity building programmes. It is more important for them because young generation changes fast and technology is making faster changes.
Bal Utsave does this by having a small, distributed, high-capability teams across the districts.
Teacher skills need to be changed because old experienced teachers had different students than the new generation students. And student habits in 2025 will change than those in 2050 and again children's ways of living will change in 2075.
