Mental
reaction when told that you are corona positive ?
Obviously initial reaction was like anyone else.
Denial followed by Why me ?
But being from medical profession it was actually expected.
Before the test I had classical symptoms to suggest covid
infection. I had fever, cough, bodyache and loss of taste
and smell. So positive report did not surprise me, rather
I was mentally ready.
How many days in hospital and daily routine during hospital
stay ?
Normally a covid positive patient would stay 14 days.
But me and my son Nishant stayed for 18 days.
Daily routine was usual.
I used to get up early at about 6 AM.
Do yoga for half an hour which included pranayama, Omkar and
mantra chanting.
Breakfast at 9 AM.
Followed by video calls to family especially to my mother
who is 84 yrs and stays alone due to lockdown.
After shower,chanting of Mahamritunjay mantra along with my
son.
Chanting of gayatri mantra after that. Catch some sleep as
it was essential for recovery.
Luch at 12 noon. Rest again.
I kept on attending seminars, medical webinars to keep myself
updated. I also continued to attend my rotary club meetings
which all were held on line since lockdown.
Evening snack used to served at 5.30 pm followed by dinner
at 8 pm.
Post dinner used to be entertainment time.
Watched scientific fiction movies till about 11 pm.
Sleep at 11 pm.
During the course of the day had plenty of time to talk to
my son on various aspects of life which I would not have got
but for this covid. I used this time in positive and concreate
manner.
Advice
to people to keep themselves mentally fit
Being healthy is not disease free body but it also includes
mental and social wellbeing.
Physical fitness and mental state are sides of the same coin.
They both support each other.
It is imperative to have stable physical fitness to have stable
mind.
All of
us should do whatever it takes to remain physically fit. Regular
exercise, smart choice in eating and keeping the weight under
control are a must. It will automatically keep you away from
lifestyle diseases like Hypertension, Diabetes, Obesity and
thyroid ailment.
If one is physical fit it is easier to keep your mind stable.
So stay fit. As far mind is concerned it is important as to
how one thinks. Do not allow negativity, fear or anxiety to
touch you. It is easier said than done.
But that
is where power of mantra comes in. It gives you confidence,
positivity and fear free attitude.
A big NO to TV.. Read positive books which will instil the
correct way to think.
To believe in yourself is of utmost importance.
Winning is all about believing.
So trust in your ability, donot give up.
