Industry Associations in Greenland

Greenland Oil Industry Association

Greenland Oil Industry Association is an association representing oil and gas companies holding licences in Greenland.

GOIA was established 2009 with the scope of establishing appropriate discussion, study, feedback and implementation among oil and gas licensees in Greenland concerning legislative and regulatory issues, safety, emergency preparedness, the environment and liaison with local Greenlandic public communities and regulatory authorities.

GOIA strive to contribute to the general development of the Greenlandic society and business life through the activities that follows from oil exploration offshore.

International oil industry has long term perspectives which can be challenging the exceptions of the outcome of exploration and exploitation. However, although everything still is at an early exploration fase in Greenland, exploration activity e.g. seismic is taking place every year, and new licenses are continuously coming up for application.

GOIA is governed by a Management Committee consisting of one representative from each member. Due to strong focus on environmental, safety and emergency preparedness, common experience are shared and discussed with focus on best practice in the GOIA subcommittees.
