GRI
(Global Reporting Initiative)
GRI (Global
Reporting Initiative) is the independent, international organization
that helps businesses and other organizations take responsibility
for their impacts, by providing them with the global common language
to communicate those impacts. GRI provides the world’s most widely
used standards for sustainability reporting – the GRI Standards.
The GRI secretariat
is headquartered in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and we have a network
of seven regional hubs ensuring we can support organizations and
stakeholders worldwide.
Mission
To enable organizations to be transparent and take responsibility
for their impacts, enabled through the world’s most widely used
standards for sustainability reporting - the GRI Standards.
New
Standards into effect for reporting in 2021
Three new or updated topic Standards should be adhered to for sustainability
reports published from this year onward. GRI 207: Tax, GRI 403 Occupational
Health and Safety, and GRI 303 Water and Effluents came in to effect
as of 1 January, meaning organizations that identify any of these
topics as material are now to apply the new Standards.

Why
report?
Reporting signals a responsible organization. One that is dedicated
to being open and honest with its stakeholders.
Through reporting,
an organization can understand and better manage its impacts on
people and the planet. It can identify and reduce risks, seize new
opportunities, and take action towards becoming a responsible, trusted
organization in a more sustainable world.
