About Devbhumi Dwarka district
This district is located in Southern region of Gulf of Kutch of Gujarat state. On 15th August 2013, this district was bifurcated from Jamanagar district. Dwarka has its pilgrimage importance due to Dwarkadheesh Temple built in 6th to 7th century. It was the residing place of 'Lord Krishna' also known as 'Ranchodji'. It is one of the important ‘Chardham’ spots and the 'Sapt-Puris' 'Dwarawati' as sanskrit name of Dwarka is the most pious and holy place of Hindus. Dwarka has its own Railway Station about 1.5 km from the main city. Nights in Dwarka gets chilly, summers are quite hot. Dwarka being an ethnic city, also have modern malls for shopping. Bandhani, folk art on fabrics, Patola Silk sarees, handicraft items with embroidary etc. are worth shopping.Places of interest include 'Bet' Dwarka, Gita Mandir, Dwarkadheesh Temple, Dwarka Lighthouse.

Devbhumi Dwarka District is a district of India located on the southern coast of the Gulf of Kutch in the state of Gujarat . Its headquarters are located in the city of Khambhalia. The district created on August 15, 2013 from Jamnagar district.

History of Devbhumi Dwarka

Jam Shri Ravalji,head of Jadeja clan Rajput (Kshatriya) migrated from Kutch to Halar,established himshelf & set his throne at Khambhalia in V.S.1582 for some years it was his capital & new city in V.S.1596 named "Navanagar".

Jam Khambhalia is the head quaters of the newly created formed Devbhumi Dwarka District which was carved out of Jamnagar district on 15 August 2013.The district consists 4 talukas : khambhalia,Kalyanpur,Dwarka and Bhanvad.The named Devbhumi Dwarka is derived from the famous Dwarkadhish Temple of Dwraka city which is one of the four holy places according to Hindu mythology.

Devbhumi Dwarka District comprises of two sub-division named Khambhalia and Dwarka.Khambhalia sub division includes Khambhaliya and Bhanvad talukas while Dwarka sub division includes Okha-mandal and Kalyanpur talukas.

Administrative Setup

The entire district is divided in to two Sub Divisions namely Khambhaliya and Dwarka for smooth and effective administration of the district. Each sub Division has two Taluka under jurisdiction as per the new policy of the Government of Gujarat of ATVT (Apno Taluko Vibrant Taluko).

Besides, there are 249 Village Panchayats at rural level, 4 Taluka Panchayats, A district Panchayat as Panchayati Raj system and 6 NagarPalika at the urban level for the administrative purpose. At the Sub Division level an officer Called Prant Officer & SDM holds the office and a Mamlatdar in each Taluka Office for the smooth administration and quick disposal of services to the people of the district. District is headed by the Collector & District Magistrate.

The Police work under the supervision of the Superintendent of Police. The District Development Officer looks after the development activities of the district supported by the Taluka Development Officers in each Taluka and Heads of the various departments. At Village level, works of the Developements are done by Panchayat Mantri (formally known as Talati cum Mantri) under the Gram Panchayat and works of the Revenue are done by Revenue Talati under the Revenue Department.

Dwarka Temple

Lord Sri Krishna temple in Gomati coast is holy, which temple is known as DWARKADHISH Temple. According to the opinion of the Department of Archaeology, This temple is 1200 years old. Logically estimated one great-grandson of Lord Sri Krishna Vajranabhe Earlier, around 1400 BCE samudrama dubhi surviving remnant of the house of umbrellas established.
