The Small Businesses Association of Jamaica
(SBAJ)
The Small Businesses Association of Jamaica (SBAJ) is an NGO (Non-Governmental
Organization) business organization registered in 1974 to foster
the growth and development of businesses and professional groups
and to represent the entire small and micro business sector. The
SBAJ represents businesses employing One to Fifty (1-50) employees
and has an income turn over not exceeding five million US dollars
per annum ($US5M). The business should not be a part of a conglomerate.

Jamaica Exporters Association (JEA)
The Jamaica Exporters Association (JEA) is a non-government members
association which was established in 1966 to promote and support
the growth and development of the export sector. The JEA is committed
to facilitating the growth of Jamaica's exports have established
a network of Export Centres and Business Information Points (EC/BIPs)
across the island as a centralized system of information to positively
impact national export performance and competitiveness, while providing
standardized exporting and business information in the parishes
of St. Andrew, Portland, St. Mary, St. Thomas, St. Elizabeth, Clarendon
and Manchester. The JEA ECBIPs have now become the central point
for development of export market and other business opportunities.
The Project was made possible through funding from the Private Sector
Development Programme (PSDP) co-funded by the Government of Jamaica
and the European Union. The project was valued at J $32,188,800.
The Association is aware that the export sector is critical to
Jamaica economic development and the foreign exchange earned, continues
to work with Jamaican businesses to seize export opportunities in
non-traditional areas such as fresh produce, pharmaceuticals, herbs
and herbal products, condiments, craft and giftware and in the area
of services. The processed foods and fresh produce sector has been
growing in key markets such as the USA, Canada, the U.K. and other
areas in the European Community.
The Jamaica Exporters' Association and JAMPRO Jamaica Trade and
Invest have partnered to develop a National Export Strategy for
Jamaica. This strategy is a unified initiative which seeks to maximize
the export sector's direct contribution to economic and social development
with its vision to make Jamaica the place of choice for creative,
innovative goods and services of exceptional quality.
The Association has used the celebration of its Anniversary month
to highlight the importance of the role and contribution of exports
to nation building and to encourage businesses to start thinking
globally, as the demands increase for Jamaican exports and command
a premium in the market place as it moves up the value chain. The
JEA with The Competitiveness Company are working with companies
on protection of brand of products and services.
